The Murals of the Parliament Building

In the period from 1895 to 1984 thirteen artists painted eighty-six murals and ceiling paintings of various sizes for the Parliament building. According to the original concept, these artworks were envisioned to illustrate the one-thousand-year past of Hungary, thus enabling today's visitors and readers to appreciate the country's history immortalised in the building's interior. The publication surveys the Parliament's treasures, some of which generally cannot be viewed by visitors, and helps the comprehensive understanding of their importance with explanatory texts and supplementary information.
